Dirk plays an invaluable role at KNN Public Finance, managing all aspects of technology for the firm. A self-taught information technology specialist who joined the firm in 1996, he is responsible for systems administration, planning, and procurement; email and Internet administration; software training, selection, and maintenance; database design and programming; web design and programming; and voice systems procurement, implementation, and maintenance. In addition to keeping KNN's 25 computer stations in constant operation, Dirk shares his love of classical literature with the staff.

Truly an individual with the ability to excel at anything he tries, Dirk's previous jobs included the roles of IT consultant, advertising sales consultant, and piano craftsman. His formal training is in English and Ancient Greek poetry and language. He enjoys great works by Ancient Greek, German, Russian, British, Italian, Provencal, Japanese, American, and Tibetan authors.

Dirk's creative outlets include writing poetry and one of his works in progress depicts lichen in an old growth forest. He is currently combining his passion for classical music, modernist poetry, and ancient poetry by studying his friend Margaret Fisher's scholarly work, The Recovery of Ezra Pound's Third Opera, "Collis O Helliconi." This work includes Pound's settings of some poems of both Catullus and Sappho to music. Dirk also enjoys a game of chess and spending time with girlfriend and six cats in Mendocino County.
