Nedko joined KNN Public Finance in the summer of 2006 as an analyst with no prior public finance experience. In the four years since, he has become a critical part of the firm’s team-oriented approach to serving California cities and special districts. Armed with a strong mathematical background, Nedko is the primary source of quantitative and analytic support for the senior advisors in KNN’s City and Special District Practice Group. He is currently involved in a wide range of transactions, including general obligation, lease revenue, revenue, land-secured, and tax increment financings for a variety of clients including the cities of Fresno, Los Angeles, San Jose and Oakland, the City and County of San Francisco, and the California State University system.
Among Nedko’s noteworthy recent engagements are:
- $100 million East Bay Regional Park District GO bond offering and restructuring
- $465 million California State University Systemwide revenue bonds
- $160 million City of Fresno revenue bonds
- Three City of Fresno lease revenue bond issues totaling $103 million. The bonds were issued under a master lease structure, which allowed the City to implement financings that would have been challenging to execute on a stand-alone basis.
- $38 million Oakland Redevelopment Agency taxable tax allocation bonds for the Agency’s Central District Redevelopment Project. Nedko identified the major holder of bonds from a prior issue allowing the Agency to purchase back a portion of those bonds and avoid more than $2 million in negative escrow arbitrage that would have resulted from a defeasance.
Nedko earned his B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Davis, where he was honored with the Distinguished Undergraduate Student in Economics award. In his spare time, he can be seen navigating one of the many gorgeous East Bay hiking trails with his lovely wife Vicki, fanatically waiving a foam finger in support his favorite local sports teams, or huffing and puffing at a racquetball court near you.
